Scout Accounts

     In an effort to improve the Troop’s finances, the Scout Account Committee has come up with a Scout Account for each Scout in the Troop. This will promote individual as well as family pride for the Troop.

The Account: Each Scout will have a Scout Account (SA) assigned to them that will increase with funds as they participate in fundraising. The Scout will be responsible for paying $25.00 a quarter from their account to the Troop. The funds will be automatically removed from the account and placed into the Troops account on the first Wednesday of the following months, March, June, September and December. Any family wishing a buy out, can pay $100.00 made out to Troop 187, but a SA will still be created for the Scout.

Funding the Account: As the Scout sells ShopRite cards or other similar items; all proceeds will be entered into the account. The sell of the card will earn the Scout $5.00 for every $100.00 card sold. When the Scout participates in a fundraising event, the Scout will earn a portion of the events proceeds. The Scouts will receive ½ of the proceeds to divide up by hours worked. An example would breakdown as follows. The event last 8 hours and the total earned is $600.00, the Troop receives $300.00 leaving $300.00 for the Scouts to split. If 10 Scouts work the 8-hour event with 5 Scouts working 4 hours and 5 working 8 hours for a total of 60 hours it would work out to $5.00 per hour splitting the $300.00 into $40.00 for 8hrs. and $20.00 for 4 hrs.

Spending from the SA: The Scout may spend from the account several ways. The Scout may use the SA to pay for Troop outings or let’s say summer camp. The Scout may use the account for ShopRite, EMS and or Cabela’s gift cards as well as making purchases from the Scout Store. The Scout may not request a check from the Troop and all debts needs to be paid prior to requesting funds from the SA. No credit will be issued from the SA and if the Scout decides to leave the Troop, the account will be forfeited to Troop 187.

Fundraising Events: All fundraising events will be brought before the committee for approval. Gift card request will be issued out at during the weekly meeting.
